WIP lets paint some stuff

Well just because I am not in our painting competition does not mean that I can't get in on the act of painting. + there is a nice online blog painting competition that pits the participants against themselves and on another to paint some minis in the next two weeks. Well I am not in it but I can still have a go.

Painting tutorial 101

Well our Saturday day and Friday night club meetings have come and gone. I ran a painting tutorial for the kids in the club along with the help from one of our premier painters. Sorry no images of the games being played. Just to busy. The Friday night was interesting in that some of the lads came back for more painting advice, we must have done something right! I also had the chance to run two small introductory games of GWs Lord of the Rings game. I still really like this system as a great skirmish introduction and well the Perry twins miniatures for the game still rank up as some really great figures.

I really must thank. Nic from Eureka Miniatures, Ian from War and Peace games, Russel from The Combat Company and Mick from Mick's Metal Miniatures. their support for our painting competition has been absolutely wonderful and with some of the club money being ploughed back in to support prizes we have over $500 in giveaways for the Friday the 13th Games Night. So club members keep painting you are going to win something  worthwhile. (the links on the side will take you to our supporters websites, so please buy your toys from these people.)

4 prospective winners for the painting competition working hard. We attempted to show basic block painting, dry brushing, shading with inks and washes and even edge highlighting.

Another potential winner.

The lads strolled off but you can make out the minis in the process of having paint applied. Another attempt at dry brushing.
My latest additions, BGFOTR thanks Plastic Soldier Company. An Archer and White Scout Car from Skytreks , and the new 15mm Churchill from PSC that came with the rules for free. Loved this model it was a joy to build and with so many variants in the box it makes an AVRE or with a turret swap a MarkV just great.

Small Night at the Club and our upcoming Painting Competition

Well it was a smaller night on Friday but still a decent turn out less MTG players but the miniature gamers held up the numbers. On with the photos.
Big Battle DBA in 20mm with a curious onlooker. I'll attempt to show him the smaller DBA structure at school next week.

The second demo game of Warhammer Fantasy Battles for one of our more feminine members. We always find that when you show a game to someone and you let them win............ well they seem to enjoy the game more. Oh she won!!!

Tzeench Chaos army that was up against another chaos force that I negelected to take a photo of. Oh Chaos won.

Chaos vs Orks not sure who won sorry.

MTG

3 way Malifaux game using Rorkes Drift Buildings cool.

A Malifaux crew well on the way to entering our painting competition.

Nids vs Space Wolves, it ended in a draw but only just.

November Big Game of 40K

One of the pleasures of helping to run a club is that sometimes others take it upon themselves to run bigger games outside of the normal club nights. We have in the past run 40K Apocalypse games of 20000 points or more over a table or two and 6 odd players per side but it can’t be done on a regular club night. Well I had the chance to play in Brendan and Barry’s big game. Brendan thought it would be nice to play at his work as a way of promoting the game and our club. He works at a local sports club that has dining rooms, billiard rooms and large open areas for Bingo, Music and so on. The club thought it a good Idea as we would also be customers for drinks and lunch. Rather than a blow by blow account I’d rather show some images of the day.

3 lads about to begin

Yep another Wargaming Girl

There were two tables, with 4 players per table running 3000 points each. On the good side 3 Space Wolf armies and a Black Templar Army were to compete for the glory of the Emperor. On the Side of Evil, muh hahahaha… (guess which side I was on) there was an allied Tyranid Fallen Angel/Space Marine force on the other table a combined Eldar/Tzeench Chaos Marine and True Fallen Angel/Dark Angel force.

A view from the Black Templar and Space Wolf End of Table 1

Sadly my son realised that plonking your Drop Pod down in from of 3000 points of troops was going to end nastily.

View from my Bastion, pity I could not use the big gun in the game but then I was still on the winning team.

Fallen Terminators make short work of a Predator but lose a couple due to the Dreadnought

The sad contemplation of a plan that fell apart.

Overall it was a great day and I get to play again on Friday night. Thanks for looking.

Finished a small assortment of Malifaux for one of the lads

Well I have mentioned at times how I like the Malifaux miniatures by Wryd Miniatures and so a little while ago one of the lads wanted to swap a few minis for Infinity for a paint job. I like the idea as I) I like painting Malifaux and 2) I wanted some Infinity minis. As luck would have it one of the other lads saw the paint job and pleaded with me to paint a few of his so here they are. I’ll tell you if he likes them later. There is a problem with this though………………. You don’t get to paint yours as you are doing theirs!
