Last 2 for this year

We round off December with a Friday Night and a Saturday in the one weekend. Great night on Friday with extra funds built up over the year going back into the club via a Pizza Night! Often we buy terrain or bitz to make terrain but once or twice a year we can put some sort of lunch or dinner on too.
Baz and the Wings of War crew, nice scenario of Brits strafing the hun areodrome. The Brits Bagged 10 planes most on the ground for only the loss of 1 Brit!
40K game of Eldar vs Dark Angels, the angels won.
Iron Warriors vs Tyranids, Nids won.

Malifaux game who won????
Two lots of MTG on the night, I didn't get a shot of the older chaps pity.

Saturdays 40K game with the Eldar beating the Space Wolves in capturing the objectives.

MTG on the Saturday.

Yours truly provided Pizza a a truck load of lollies and a ginger Bread house, whilst gluing a British WWII sniper and a PIAT team together bring on Bolt Action.

See you after Christmas have a safe an merry time and think about what you can do for someone else.

What's on the paint desk now

Well what have I been working on teaser only no pics!
1) Saga Vikings for Sale at CanCon 28mm
2) Saga Saxons for me 28mm
3) Force on Force USA and Afghanies for me? 15mm
4) Bolt Action WWII but actually Crusader, Artizan and Plastic Soldier Company Brits, Germans and Russinas in 28mm for me.
5) 6mm, yes 6mm SYW imagination units for a Maurice lite game that may or may not ever happen but I have to admit. 96 infantry 18 cavalry and 2 guns and crew painted and glued to bases in 2 days is good going hahahaha. (mind you they are second hand and only needed touch ups).

saga of a failing norman knight

Well time to post a home game. My son wanted a game and I wanted to play SAGA so we agreed to a 4 pointer  to try out my new Normans. He used Anglo Saxons due to the great ability to max out your unit size and get bonuses.

Sacred ground, the three elements in the centre have to be held and you gain Victory Points for the number of troops in them per turn. The houses are just for the look. Being Normans I had it made, watch those knights run around and claim all the objectives. Normans on the right Saxons on the left.

A couple of turns in and I am in three out of three objectives with the Saxons only just entering the middle hill. Home and hosed or so I thought. Hmmm don't those levy have bows..................?

The view up Senlac Hill, woops sorry getting a little ahead of myself. Mind you by this stage I had come to see how inefective 8 warrior crossbows can be vs the Warlord. Should have gone for the Warriors instead. By now I was looking a little worse for wear. 1 unit Hearthguard Knights gone, Warlord gone and just about to lose the other unit of knights.
Notice crossbowmen running for cover but the Spearmen have driven off the Saxon warriors. Mind you I have not shown you the rest of the table!

At the end of the game, Saxons have 1 mini from a unit of warriors on the end objective, 2 minis from a 2nd Saxon unit on the same object, 1 Warlord, a few levy and a single warror on the middle objective. The Normans on the other hand have...................none, no not just no objective but no miniatures. But wait, this is points based and I was seriously winning in turns 1,1,2,2. At the end of the game 8 turns later. Saxons 130 points, Normans 96 hmmmmm. Well done to my son and looking forward to painting up another Norman Warlord cos this one just did not do the work he was meant to. Battle of Hastings it was not.

End Of November 2012

Well the year has slipped past us and at the end of November we find ourselves with one of last last games nights for the year. So what was on?

Kings of war Elf vs Chaos, I think the list for the Chaos came from the hour of wolves and shattered shields site.

Wings of War/Glory with our younger pilot gaining the advantage of a fist full of 0 cards.

The Malifaux I guys at it again. Still love the minis.

Malifaux II

Warhammer 8th Elf vs Goblins, yes you heard it Goblins, hmm so the outcome Gobbos shot to bits then ran away surprise, surprise, surprise. That said, fun was had by all especially the High Elves.
Star Wars roleplaying, outside in the cool night air, these guys are the clever ones!

Magic guys and girls I

Magic guys II

My game Dark Angel successors Vs Space Wolves at 1500 points using the older rules 6th ed I think, and for the first time in ages I beat the Space Wolves Woo Hoo.
Note space Wolf Drop Pod with dreadnought in the foreground. Luckily I immobilised it before it ate my unit, only to have the land raider crusader steam up and drop 7 wolf guard and a lord that then promptly ate the unit ho hum.

Saga of the Normans

Well if I am to get the club into Saga I am going to need at least 4 X 4 point armies.
Guilliame's Warband.

Milites
Warriors with Spears
Norman Crossbowmen
Guilliame himself

Saturday November 17th. A good turn out at the club with a bunch of roleplayers doing the Star Wars thing. A solid training 40K game and a little painting on the side by my son and I.
4 lads and the more senior tutor take on each other to find chaos and orks vs the marines at a cool 2 objective each. Draw.

Star Wars better played standing up so you can swoosh the lightsabers with more aplomb.

Z putting the finishing touches to a friends Malifaux mini, I really love the detail on these guys they just scream "Paint Me!".

The paint desk

This is just a quick post to show the painting desk as of 6 weeks ago. To be honest it has not changed much. Some of teh minis on the top have gone to the draw to be painted later. New minis have made it to the front but as I am a painting butterfly you will have to wait.

Missed out again.

Well due to a staff function I missed out on the evening. I arrived at then end to pick up the lads and ferry their friends home.So instead of much of an update I'll just put a couple of teasers up. Some old some new.
This is from the October Saturday meet. A new lad and old master teamed up to whip one of the other members of the club. Sure enough a close run thing and no one came out victorious except the new lad loved it and is hooked!
Got to get one of Barry's games of Wings Of Glory in!

Lots of games who knows what?

End of October meeting

Well this one was a little different. Baz wanted to run a Tanksgiving night. similar to what happens in the USA. You run all your tanks on two teams and it is just one big shoot 'em up. The only added rule is simultaneous shooting. So if your vehicle gets snotted at least you get a shot or two off. suposed highlight was the Necron Pylon shooting and killing the Shadowsword, you have to love it when you keep rolling 6s when hitting super heavies. the other highlight is an Eldar Falcon getting hit so many times and loosing just about everything but not blowing up. it survived the game with its shiruken cannon removing a space marine landspeeder.

The magic lads and lass!
Tanksgiving again

I had the chance to run my old Bretonnians against the Beloved of Chaos in the form of Andrew's warriors of chaos army. Well under 8th editions I did not hold my breath particularly when andrew brings out two 15 strong chosen units, ouch. That said a masterful bit of dice rolling in the magic phase and Andrew promptly snots a whole unit of his Chosen with the irressistable force and miscast. This left two big units of knights to run down his last chosen unit. Yes I did take the cheesy way out and not hit the chaos chosen and his lord (that you can see in the photo) his lord would have really hurt my knights. This left around 4 chaos marauder horsemen and his lord standing. Victory to Bretonnia! Mind you my Pegasus knights, Trebuchet and a unit of Bowmen died a horrible death.

Force on Force

The recent foray to MOAB left me with the need to give Force on Force a proper run, well that and Saga as well. Dark ages ticked and now onto the modern warfare section. This is a little post of the insurgents that now grace my table, just got to con someone into gaming it with me.
Minis by Peter Pig I think, available from Micks Metal Models, resin house from Mick as well, card houses downloaded off the net and the trees were from a chap called Dave Brown, he does some nice if somwhat odd 15mm fantasy HOTT stuff, his busines is known as Evil Gong miniatures. Note minis not totally finished but usable. Usable almost equates with finished in my book. Not as nice as Brendans insurgents but much smaller.

October 12 Somewhere in Moruya

Club night, great turn out 4 Roleplayers, 4 Wings of War, 5 Malifaux, 2 40k, 2 Saga, 6 Magic the Gathering, total 23 this is just fantastic considering it was just a normal night. Well the games seemed to go well and it all ended by 11pm.

One of our best painters turned up with his lady and showed off the latest and greatest that they had been working on. Commission work for him was on display, Flames of War stuff and some great insurgents and US Marines from Eureka Miniatures and some nice Tyrannids for her. Sometimes it is rather humbling to see a new painter enter the scene and paint better than you. But then again this is happening all too often for me so I am just going to have to get used to it. I hope they both keep up the good work. If you need commission painting done I am sure we can help put you with the right painter.

This was a nice blast from the past, those of you that were tuned to White Dwarf oh around 20+ years ago when it was a Roleplaying and Miniature Gaming magazine might just remember this one…… sorry it is not up for sale the owner is quite happy with his purchase. No it is not me, mores the pity.

Well this is my first Saga game post MOAB and it was a nice tight victory to my Anglo Danes. I was trying to introduce it to a new player. Normally I play a little softer with the Noobs but as this was virtually my first run with the Anglo-Danes I let him have it. Only to find my opponent was well up to the challenge. Just remember this one; when you put all your eggs in one basket Fatigue counters can stop your maxed out charge by taking your medium move and making it short, ho hum dum dum! Don’t mind the lava field mat, the Malifaux players nicked the green mats first.
Viewing the Battleboard with intense interest.

Da Magic Ladz at it again.
The Gotha did not make it in this game.
The 40K game Space Wolves and Nids, victory to the Nids, just.
Malifaux and .....softdrink, hmm wonder if we can get sponsorship?

Well enough for now. What with Saga and Force on Force taking my personal interests I might show off some of my latest paint jobs next time.
