Infinity game at the Golf Club

One of our club gamers wanted another bash at Infinity and realised he could not make the next club night so instead arranged for a game at Tuross Head Gold Club. To the clubs credit they let us set up on there billards/pool table in a section not being used and then it was game on.
Table01 Nomads Vs Ariadna

Table 2 Pan-O vs Ariadna

Table 1 from the other side
This time around my opponent decided to run his Antipodes (nasty alien dog creatures) properly.

The antipode handler lays down smoke and doggies move up.

Handler lays down more smoke and doggies move up again.

More smoke and doggies leap out to land so close to my core troopers. Yet as I had 5 miniatures nearby the cross fire took them down but this made me think that in the future this will be a force to be reckoned with.
Auto canon out in the open and a camo marker soon both were to die but not before some vicious exchanges of fire.

Dog Warrior in close combat with Mobile brigade needless to say Doggy  won!

Grenzer on the roof in prime position only to jump to a new building and shot to bits a moment later.

My Revered Healer hacking the computer console and gaining the objective.

A sneaky Special Ops taking the other objective

Sadly healers can't heal TAGs and mine seem to go down all to fast in my games.
I ended up winning this one but it was much closer 1 objective each and I only won by eliminating enough of the enemy models.
I had a birthday around a month ago but was in hospital. My opponent and his partner ever so kindly bought and painted me this amazing Iguana TAG for my Nomads. They really are too kind. So if they read this post thanks B and D you shouldn't have but it will take pride and place in my Nomad force.

Oh if anyone is interested the MDF buildings are a combination of Blind Pig and CNC miniatures. Also sorry but I took no more photos of the other table. Big mistake but that is how it works occasionally.

Duelling Gamers 5 "The Duel of Kings"

Well I've done it again. I have decided to enter Terrain for Hippos http://terrainforhippos.blogspot.com.au/2015/08/duelling-paintbrushes-5-duel-of-kings.html

duelling paintbrushes "opportunity". Well it is a sort of competition for bragging rights only but to me it is an opportunity to get some targeted painting done in a short time.

Unfortunately due to the demise of Warhammer Fantasy Battles and the kindling of new interests in Kings Of War by Mantic (which I have played and enjoyed a lot) there has been a little rejig of the premise of the competition. To cut to the chase, competitors have to paint a horde in Kings of War and the accompanying regiments and units and characters and monsters and well you get it.....

Now what to do? I have enough Undead already from last years attempt.
http://moruya-marauders.blogspot.com.au/2014/09/a-tale-of-duelling-gamers-my-final.html
and there are so many models sitting unloved in the shed. Shall it be dwarves as a mix of mantic and GW minis or shall I do the Kingdom of Men and take my long held wish of a cross-over army of Republican Romans that will look like a slightly more archaic cousin to Mantic's Basileans? I have the Agema Miniatures Romans already and well would have to buy some more dwarves to make a decent attempt on the duel. Hmmm decisions decisions.

No pics this time as I contemplate reality.

Infiity at home as the weather has been lousy.

Well games night at the club was called off due to the atrocious weather we have been getting but an impromptu game or two of Infinity occurred at home last night. Initially there would be one game with a friend at me at the full 300 points with every model painted. But a couple of other friends arrived and another game could be set up. Ariadna Vs my Nomads 300points and Ariadna vs Pan-Oceania at 230 points with most of the minis painted by me. In fact 3 out of the 4 armies I did now that has to be a record. Sadly I was so involved with the game all I got was a shot of each table at the beginning of the games.
Table one with industrial styled elements was 3' X 4' but we just set up further back, you can see the Nomads at the back.

Second table was more of a research facility feel.

I really like the game but so many rules for us all to learn but we have a plan for a league to get our heads around it all a little better.

300+points of Nomads (not many posts been sick)

Well as the title suggests I have been a little ill of late. In fact I've been in hospital and am now recovering at home. This of course can be a blessing and a discomfort. The discomfort is that I have missed a couple of games club outings and thus the clatter of dice has not occurred. The blessing is that now I am feeling up to it I have put paint on the odd miniature or two.

I had around 120 points or 5 Nomads painted around a year ago or so and needed to upgrade them to the full 300 points that is a common game well 11 miniatures later and I have around 330 points. If I drop the large Mecha unit (T.A.G. in the game) I will need to paint one more but I don't have a base for it yet, hmmm any excuse to order stuff from one of the retailers on the side of the page. I have no idea how competitive the list will be but I really don't care as it is for the club games and I like the figures so that is good enough for me.

On with the show.
The full 330points
2 Reverend Moiras, 3 Moderators, 1 Alguacil and the figures below

Grenzer sniper

Reverend Healer with ................gun, not doctors bag

Mobile Brigada

Spectre (assassin style guy)

Szalamandra heavy hitter TAG

I have some Ariadna to show soon too.

July Happenings at the Club and Warzone Intro at WinterCon Canberra

I am not really keeping up to date on the blog. I had hoped to do a little more but alas life has taken its toll rather than the pleasures of toy soldier painting and gaming. Nevertheless we have had a decent turn out at the club with more introductory games of Infinity (starting to get a handle on the rules but there are so many special rules........), a great Midway/Coral sea WWII Wings of Glory but no images I am afraid and I only got a shot at the end of the X-Wing game. The role-players seem to be growing too.

A couple of club members took themselves up to Canberra for the smaller convention known as WinterCon. It really is the little baby brother of CanCon but still gives one the chance to chuck dice and buy stuff. I had another foray at the painting classes. 2 Brush Blending with Meg Maples, of Privateer Press fame, ran the course with around a half dozen of us trying desperately to paint better. So learned faster on the day. I have to admit that the small outlay of a few dollars and a whole 2 hours of tutorial is a worth while investment and one I will continue to be a part of.

I also failed miserably to photo and watch the Infinity and Impetus tournaments but did have a 20 minute dabble with a favourite from years ago WarZone. It looks like it has been revamped and lots of lovely new minis, a tighter and more gritty combat mechanism and free downloadable rules online. Now this is the path of the future. Infinity, KOW/Mantic, WarZone and at last GW have realised to hook people they need to put the basics or more up online for us to peruse and then play with. Will I jump at WarZone.......hmm not yet but I will grab the rules for a proper look. Mind you the young chap walking me through the rules did a great job on a good board and even better looking minis.

The only downside to WinterCon was a comment made by one of my mates. "Gosh that Bolt Action looks great. I really want to give that game a go one day." Well needless to say I was unimpressed. Why you might ask, well I sold all my 28mm Unpainted Germans and 28mm painted British Army and some lovely Tamiya tanks for peanuts last CanCon as no one repeat no one wanted to play WWII in 28mm. HMMMMM....... So in typical plastic krak fashion what did I do. You betcha, spat the dummy and.................bought a box of 28mm German Infantry to go along with my built and undercoated 28mm Russians that I knew were floating around in the lead and styrene mountain in the shed. Also ordered some British infantry command and Heavy weapons to do it all over again. But this time no Tamyia tanks as $54.00 each is too much for my budget at the moment.

On with the small photo shoot.
The Infinity tutorial game 175 or so points a side.

Sniper on the roof.

The Healer does her job and off drops the token, first time I tried to heal in the game and it worked.

The end run as the game came to a halt as the two last ships were unable to really damage each other. Please note the nifty asteroids. Pumice collected from a beach hot glued onto some flying stands from one of my all time favourite star fighter game Silent Death.

WarZone at Wintercon

My leader "Big Jim" or some such name, please correct me.

My light infantry. All painted and based to a high standard. I really liked the mat too as it was a print out on vinyl that really looked the part.

Another Infinity training night

Well this is always a giggle, the blind leading the blind. I had a chance to help introduce Infinity to 2 more club members. The last club night they looked on at one of the games and then wandered home to order 2 small forces. Ariadna and Pan-O Nice. The Ariadna were almost completely painted for the night which is pretty good going really for around only a week on the table. The club is actually pretty new to Infinity and I am barely literate in it but at least when we start to get underway we will all be teaching each other. The game was a three way, Nomads, Pan-O and Ariadna it worked rather well but the Nomads were taken out fairly fast. This time around the Pan-O force came out on top. Other club activities were a 4 player game of Saga and the Pathfinder Roleplayers continuing the tales of adventure.

On with the show.                                           SAGA X 4

Ariadna01

Ariadna02
 Dead Nomads

Dog Soldier Front

Dog Solder Back

These ones lasted most of the game but I have to finish painting them.

150point infiity game with the lad

Long weekend in NSW, cold winter Sunday what better way to spend the day than playing infinity with your son. Needless to say he whooped me but then I get use to this.

Ready to Rock, My enemy to the North Nomads, and my Pan-O to the South.

Coming to get me

Fire Alley (which actually wasn't)

The lone Gunwoman (she did rather well compared to the rest)

One of the few I took down

Two of mine that went down to reactive fire ouch. The one lying on the mat was a combat jumper that ended up 6 inches off the table and so had to come in off the back of my board edge. I placed it in ambush and then..................shot.

My fusilier takes out a Spektr in the Corner of Death but it was all down hill from here. My son played very well and even though we are not fully comfortable with the rules it is still a lot of fun.
